Sometimes, clients bring in jewellery that they haven’t worn for many years, perhaps because it was a gift that never hit the mark, or an old boyfriend or partner’s piece that they didn’t like to wear….

Sometimes, clients bring in jewellery that they loved so many years ago, but now consider the design is too dated, and it doesn’t reflect what they would like to wear now….

Sometimes, clients bring in jewellery that they inherited from their grandmother, that they loved dearly, but that the rings or necklaces, or bracelets don’t suit them….

Sometimes, clients bring in jewellery that they have taken great care to look after, but accidents and wear and tear have happened, and their precious jewellery is damaged, is missing stones, or no longer sparkles….

Many people don’t realise that their precious jewellery pieces, which may have so much sentimental value for their lives, can be repurposed, remade, or repaired quite easily. Usually, the costs in remaking, remodelling, or repairing, are significantly less than the original purchase cost, or replacement cost of the item.

Sam spends a significant amount of time each week, remaking, remodelling and repairing jewellery for clients in the above situations. The first step is inspection of the jewellery piece, followed by discussion about the client’s preferences. Sam then works with clients to complete sketches of the desired result, after which he prepares a quote.

In some instances, where additional diamonds or gemstones are needed, Sam may need to get external quotes for your piece. Sam will also indicate approximate timeframes for the remaking, remodelling or repair.
